Picknick - Picnic -

Heerlijk picknicken aan de Lek. Samen met Jotte. Onze katers lopen vaak mee als wij wandelen maar dit ging hun te ver....

We had a lovely picnic at the Lek (a small rivers close to our house)
Often our cats walk with us but this was to far for them so we went with Jotte.

Wij zitten daar dan te genieten van het prachtige uitzicht terwijl Jotte de rivier ontdekt....

When we sit there we just eat a bit and enjoy the lovely view while Jotte discovers the river...

Dan vraag ik me af..waar komt dat woord eigenlijk vandaan?

Then the questions pops up in my head.. Where does the word 'picnic'come from?

Het eerste gebruik van het woord is terug te voeren op de 1692 editie van Tony Willis, Origines de la Langue Française. De term werd gebruikt door een ​​groep mensen die zaten te dineren in een restaurant en zelf wijn meebrachten. Lange tijd werd het woord picknick gebruikt voor maaltijden waarbij iedereen zelf iets meenam....

The first usage of the word is traced to the 1692 edition of Tony Willis, Origines de la Langue Française, which mentions pique-nique as being of recent origin; it marks the first appearance of the word in print. The term was used to describe a group of people dining in a restaurant who brought their own wine. For long a picnic retained the connotation of a meal to which everyone contributed something....

For us a picnic is just lovely. Good food in a lovely picnic basket, just enjoying the weather and each orther. There is much choise in picnic baskets...

En een beetje pasen in huis, en verse bloemen.

And also Easter in the house, and fresh flowers.

 





Het enige wat nu nog even moet gebeuren is het kozijn schilderen, de muur aanstucen en de rest van de bandrand doen... en de tweede patio aankleden met plantjes en leuks...en dan

Genieten...

Now all that is left to do is paint the doorframe, plaster the wall, paint it and make the second patio cosy with plants and orther nice stuff... and then....

Maar het was alsof G wasverzachter had gebruikt...

Zulke zondagen wil ik wel vaker! De patio gaat weer open voor publiek en de bloemen geuren en kleuren de sfeer.


I would have more sundays like these.
The patio is open for our customers again and the scents and colours of the flowers do the rest...

Het kan er zo heerlijk warm worden dat Jotte af en toe even de koelte binnen opzocht...

It can be so hot in the patio that Jotte was cooling down in the house...

en terwijl zij lag te 'koelen' kon ik deze shot niet laten gaan...

Juule Gaat Vreemd

Vreemdgaan op een positieve manier, kan dat? Ja hoor! Iedereen weet dat Juule alleen de meest bijzondere woonaccessoires uit Scandinavie verkoopt, maar toen deze vazen en kopjes in zicht kwamen, was de verleiding niet te weerstaan. Het is dus ook een tijdelijk item. Gewoon, omdat aandacht aan een niet Scandinavisch merk geven heel verfrissend kan werken.

Ze hebben er ook dubbelwandige kopjes van. Voordeel van dubbelwandig is natuurlijk dat de koffie of thee echt wel een half uur warm blijft terwijl je het kopje op kunt pakken zonder je handen te branden.

They also have cups with a double layer. Your coffee or tea stays warm for at least half an hour and you can pick up the cup without burning your hands.
The space between the inner and outer cup does the trick.

En deze 'bekers' zijn helemaal geweldig. Terug naar de natuur....
Als beker te gebruiken maar ook bijzonder als waxinelichthouder omdat het licht door het porseleinen gedeeltje schijnt.

And these 'cups' are incredible. Back to nature ....
